How to Lose Weight on a Low Income in time for a Special Occasion

You’ve a special occasion coming up.
A party? A holiday? A graduation? Your wedding day?
You've picked out a gorgeous dress, and now it’s time to start thinking about leading a healthy lifestyle so that you can fit into your dress comfortably on your special day. Whether you’re looking to lose a significant amount of weight before the event or simply want to drop a few pounds so you can look trimmer on the photos, eating healthily can often come with a price – after all it’s often cheaper to buy a pizza than a healthy salad, although it probably shouldn’t be. If you’ve allocated a lot of money to your budget, you might be wondering how you can eat as healthily as possible on a low budget in order to lose weight. We’ve put together a list of great ideas that won’t break the bank and will still give you a great figure.

Exercise
You don’t need to join an expensive gym in order to exercise – you can exercise almost anywhere for free! Take up jogging, or skip with a rope in your back garden. There are loads of exercises that you can do from home, and the best thing is that you will soon start to see differences when you look in the mirror if you’re doing physical exercise – it will also help to tone your muscles which will make you appear slimmer.

Smoothies
Fruit and vegetable smoothies are not only tasty, they’re also a great way of making sure that you’re eating healthily and they don’t have to come with a massive price tag. Simply chop up fruits or veggies of your choice and add to a blender with juice or skimmed milk, and voila – you have a delicious and nutrient-full meal. Frozen veggies, fruits and berries don’t cost the earth especially if you shop at budget supermarkets – they’re just as good as the larger supermarket chains, we promise!

Forget Fad Diets
When it comes to losing weight for a special occasion, it can be very tempting to join a slimming club or start following a fad diet in order to keep yourself motivated. Although being a member of a weight loss group can be motivating and help to keep you going, the five or so pounds that you’ll have to pay per week just to get weighed and have a chat will begin to eat away at your pocket. Although some diet plans do work, simply eating healthily and counting your calories will work just as well and if you want the extra motivation, why not get a few friends or family members on board and meet up with them each week instead.

Fitness Apps
If you own a smartphone, you’d be silly not to take advantage of the range of free health and fitness apps on offer. One great app which is available for both IOS and Android is MyFitnessPal, a free app which allows you to track the food you’ve eaten and the exercise that you’ve done. It also gives you an average weight loss expectancy, which is great for motivation.

Good luck with your weight loss – we’re sure you’ll look stunning!

  1. Great post! I haven't got anything in particular to shape up for but would love to lose a couple of kilos of baby weight. However I do use the excuse that I can't afford lots of healthy foods because I'm trying to reduce our grocery bill while we're on one income. I know there are ways to eat healthily for cheap, but I need to be reminded of it sometimes ;). I've used myfitnesspal in the past to track calories and lose a good bit of weight. My problem is staying off the baked goods once my diet is done!
