East Mids Bloggers Meet Up

August was a crazy busy month for me, but during all the madness was the East Mids Bloggers Meet Up, that my friends that run the East Mids Bloggers Network organised. I also helped out with the arrangements, not as much as I'd have liked as I quickly found that I couldn't put as much time into it as I hoped but I arranged the ice breaker game, conversed with and chased up attendees, helped set up [and carry THE heaviest boxes to the venue, haha] and got all the goody bags all set up and ready on the day. But hats off to the main organisers Emmie & Kirstie who most definitely pulled all the stops out to arrange an amazing event!

I went to an East Mids Meet Up a few years back and nowadays, it's all change. There are a whole new bunch of local bloggers on the block! Events such as these are a great way to network and get to know other local bloggers in your area.

I was down in London the night before, [at a Big Brother eviction, haha] so had to rush back to Leicester first thing in the morning after 3-4 hours sleep! But after a quick breakfast in my favourite coffee shop Bru I was ready to go!

The venue of choice was Manhattan 34, a gorgeous cocktail bar in Leicester's trendy cultural quarter

I took on door duty, greeting all 40 attendees and handing them their ice breaker; a fact each blogger had given me previously. They had to find the owner of the fact, which was a great way to get everyone chatting!

We had the wonderful Becky Bruce entertaining us with her fabulous vocals throughout the afternoon, local hair stylists Danique Hairdressing were on hand to provide some quick and easy hair styling and lash extension specialists Angel Eyes treated our attendees to some amazing new lashes!

Central to the event was a charity raffle held on behalf of Bowel Cancer UK, a charity very close to fellow organiser Kirsty's heart, and Rainbows Hospice, a local hospice for children and young people affected by life-limiting conditions. We had some amazing prizes and raised £200 towards these amazing charities.

With a cocktail menu to die for, samples of locally produced wine from Rothley Wine Estate and mouth watering cakes and brownies from Bru, attendees were happily fed and watered whilst working the room chatting to old friends and making new ones.

During the afternoon we were treated to a couple of talks from local PR company, Cool As Leicester and the amazing bloggers magazine Blogosphere. Both of which gave us some fantastic tips and advice on how to grow our blog, how best to work with PRs and brands and how best to develop our own brand. Everyone I spoke to said how inspired they felt after the talks and got so much out of them, which is fantastic! So HUGE thanks to them!

As the event came to an end, everyone was handed TWO goody bags full to the brim with lots of fantastic goodies. If you follow me on Snapchat [if you dont, you should ;)] you will have seen me 'unboxing' all of the fab bits we received, which included soap from Lush, some beautiful homeware from Matalan [which are already taking pride and place in my little home], coconutty goodies from Vita Coco, skincare from Witch, makeup brushes from LAB2 [no girl can have too many makeup brushes!!], an eye pencil from No7, a brow palette from budget beauty brand Covershoot Cosmetics, a cleansing balm from Merumaya, perfume samples, Carex soap [and we all know how I love the sweety Carex soaps!! ;)], green tea from Tg, Busy B pencils and some fantastic discounts and coupons too. I can't wait to try them all out, look out for them featured in future posts and on my social media!

It was a fantastic day and I met some great people. If you're based in the area, be sure to check out the East Mids Bloggers Network Facebook and Twitter pages.
